Summer really can take a toll on your skin, what with the late nights, UV rays and wearing your makeup in the blistering heat among other things. So we have compiled a few tips and tricks to get your skin ready to brave the winter air...
Change it up: In winter, your skin needs more moisture more often. If you usually use a lotion, you may need to switch to a cream.
Shorten your showers:
Choose your cleanser carefully: Cleansers can strip your skin of natural oils, dry it out, and over time, lead to more visible lines and wrinkles.
Slough it off with a coffee body scrub: Getting rid of those dead skin cells on the surface helps your moisturiser penetrate much better. It also brings back that youthful glow that is so often lost during the winter months. We recommend One Scrub's The Sweet Vanilla One, which smells amazing and is great for dry skin.
Protect: Winter weather appears to be less sunny, but those harmful UV rays are still out there. Always protect your skin with a safe sunscreen and wear protective hats and clothing.
Hot water feels great in the winter, but it saps skin of its natural oils. Try to limit your long, hot showers and baths to once or twice a week, and choose lukewarm the other times. Always apply moisturizer immediately after patting skin dry.Eat right:
Simple sugars and carbohydrates stimulate reactions in skin that can lead to more breakouts. Avoid these during your daily life and you’ll experience fewer setbacks when you indulge at the holidays.Wear gloves:
Our hands suffer the most during the winter months because we’re washing them more often to avoid the germs that can cause infections. Take moisturiser with you and apply regularly, and wear gloves to protect the skin on your hands.Use a humidifier:
As winter comes, the air dries out. The dryer the air, the more it steals moisture from your skin. If you live in a dry climate, use a humidifier, particularly in your bedroom at night.Rejuvenate:
The winter months are a great time to provide your skin with more nutrients so it can better withstand winter stress. Apply a serum every night before your moisturiser and before bed, we recommend Caudalie Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil
.Keep lips moisturised:
Chapped lips are the bane of winter living. Get rid of that dry, flaky skin by gently rubbing your toothbrush accross them and applying vaseline or a nourishing lip balm.
